Special Ministries

 

These ministries are an opportunity for the women to use their God-given gifts and talents to encourage other women of the church. The opportunities are endless for learning, fellowship, spiritual encouragement and developing new relationships. Widows and orphans are particularly dear to the heart of God. “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:27. God is so serious about caring for the widows that he portrays Himself as their protector in Psalm 68. The Wings Ministry was formed to help the pastor and the deacons care for the widows in our congregation. We aim to provide fellowship opportunities for them, emotional and physical support when needed, and in generally just love on them as Christ does. 

Wings got it’s name from Psalm 91:4, “He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.” It is our goal to show His faithfulness and encourage the women to seek refuge in Him. In a very real way, we try to be His hands, His feet, His heart – His wings. 

Currently, the Wings ministry aims to host a fellowship luncheon once a month, and several times a year tries to show the women God’s love for them in a variety of ways – sometimes through outings, sometimes through little gifts and remembrances. Each lady receives correspondence for her birthday, and for many holidays throughout the year. Knowing that loneliness is a key concern for widows, we try to contact them as often as we can, just to listen and provide support. Our goal is to share our hearts with them.

World Changers Ministry - World Changers seeks to provide Christian youth and adults with opportunities to meet the physical and spiritual needs of others through practical learning experiences that teach servant hood and personal commitment to missions.

Samaritans Purse - The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God's desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told His hearers, "Go and do likewise."

Sisters Keepers - An opportunity for you to pray and encourage a sister in Christ as well as know that there is someone praying and encouraging you!!! We are starting Sister’s Keeper! This is much the same as Secret Sister; however it’s not a secret.  You know who is praying for and encouraging you. There is in our Body of Believers a love for Christ which carries over to ingenuity and sincerity in making someone feel loved, appreciated and special. God’s design for us is to have one-on-one relationships, holding each other up, holding each other accountable, and showing each other Christ’s love.

G Groups – To offer encouragement, skills, and other interests and how to live out the Gospel through gifts He has given. To promote teamwork and an atmosphere to develope close lasting relationships with the body. To love and honor God by training women in Biblical principles for spiritual growth and for them to know they are uniquely gifted by God. 

 

All Aboard -- Come enjoy a classic board game, Bunco or cards.  Bring your favorite no pressure game!

 

Lit N Latte -- We’ll have story times, “chapter chats,” so bring your favorite book that you're reading right now for show n' tell, grab a girlfriend and let's have a latte fun!

  

Cuisine Queens -- Hate to cook? Love to cook?  Join us to make a meal together for your family or make two, one for you and one for a family in need.

 

Chick Flickers -- Movie Nite -- Get together with girlfriends for an evening of watching a movie and enjoying dinner or dessert after.

 

Patterns of Grace -- Quilting and Sewing group. You'll learn how to use a sewing machine and get started on a basic pattern. Bring your sewing machine if portable and basic sewing supplies (fabric, pattern, scissors, pins, etc.).

 

Sassy Scrappers -- Scrap booking club. Everyone meets at a designated place and brings their scrapbooking projects.  Get ideas from everyone else.

 

Walkie Talkies -- Walk and talk group.  Power walk or stroll with conversation.  We want to encourage motion and build friendship.
